A PASTOR’S STORY

In 2015, the Cord Group was introduced to Jones Morris, a pastor from Liberia who spent 10 months in Grand Rapids when the Ebola epidemic detained him from returning to his native country. Pastor Morris and his family had founded a church and school in their community in Monrovia to share Christ’s hope and love with its poverty-stricken people.

Since then, the Cord Group has enjoyed a warm, long-standing relationship with Pastor Morris, assisting his ministry in myriad ways, including:

  • a shipping container filled with food, housewares, and educational materials

  • surgery costs to treat his wife’s rare eye disease

  • equipment, alternative energy sources, computers, and Starlink internet access for the school

With the Cord Group’s help, the church has grown, the school has flourished from 15 to over 100 children, and a medical clinic and pharmacy have been added to address the needs in their community in Monrovia. To encourage self-sufficiency, we’ve also helped Pastor Morris start a tricycle transportation company and training for his son to eventually succeed him.
